Art by Pat Hilpert Plus Words by My Husband = Posters
I spend 3-5 hours a day engaged with my digital art and photography and have done so for several years. This process has produced hundreds of artworks. Throughout this period, my biggest fan and best critic has been my husband, John. I show him various stages of works in progress and occasionally he will share a brief comment. Be it encouraging or critical, I value his judgments and sometimes I even incorporate his suggestions into my art. Several months ago, his comments seemed more like long descriptions of how one of my designs made him feel or how another of my pieces caused him to reflect. It was exciting to me because as an artist, I always wonder how my imagination affects others. Emotions an artwork conjures in me might be totally different for someone else.
Discussions with John on these observations led to a mutually rewarding series of art posters. John's a word artist. His career involved a lot of writing. After talking, we came up with the idea of combining both of our artistic gifts. My Art with his words and waalaa: posters were born! I believe we produced over 110 by the time we moved on to other interests. It was fun while it lasted.
I would like to share my absolute fave with you, so you get the idea. This poster was created backwards. John's words came first, then I came up with an art collage to pair with them. The artwork resulted from a car ride in which I was driving. John, unbeknownst to me, kept track of many snippets of our conversations and my spontaneous comments. See what you think......
